Part of the problem was that eBay had a free listing day yesterday, and we spent the entire day madly listing new books and relisting others. Managed to get 200 up though. Not bad. So, I'm not ready to do the Christmas Eve Festivus/ Family Event debriefing today because I haven't really had time to think about it, and I also have to fix some pics. Maybe I'll get that all done tomorrow. I am really hating the "duty" aspect of every day updates. We went to a movie on Christmas day with friends and saw the new Jack Nicholson/ Diane Keaton comedy, "Something's Gotta Give." It was OK. I did like that they showed Diane Keaton, wrinkles and all...Nicholson, too, at some points. However, they did a lot of funny stuff with the filters so that when she was with a younger person they shot her through a filter which minimized her wrinkles, but when with Nicholson they took the filter off. In my estimation, it wasn't a great film, but I'm guessing that people will like it, and it's getting good reviews. Basically, it just took a relatively ordinary premise, and gave it a relatively ordinary treatment, very predictable. And long...it seemed interminable. I guess I prefer a comedy to be more inventive or off beat. Sorry, but I can't think of a single example of one I've liked right now, and am too tired to do the research. The movie I liked best so far this year was "American Splendor". Actually, I more than liked it, I loved it. And we just saw "21 Grams" which was pretty good, if a little overwrought. Now I'm going back to finish the 2nd Harry Potter movie which we rented tonight. We are so far behind with our pop-culture infusions that we'll never catch up. |
