My friend and I spent the entire day at IKEA

This morning we drove out there, and after spending some time roaming around The Container Store, we went over to IKEA, had lunch there, and then proceeded to look at just about every item on all the floors. While most of their stuff is not the kind of thing which would work in my house, it's still fun to look. The stuff is reasonable, cheap even, and it's hard to leave empty handed. I found the batteries I was looking for, some ornaments, and a couple to other small items. Now I think I've had enough IKEA for this season.

It was a nice excuse to spend time with my friend. And it was especially nice not to be in the studio all day. Sometime in the last couple of years we've fallen into the habit of spending every day there and now it's beginning to seem unhealthy to me.

I feel compelled to go there every day, so that I can get a lot done. But never having a break in the work week becomes counterproductive, and actually works against creativity. Sometimes I find myself just sitting at my desk zombie like spinning my wheels and feeling lost and brain dead unable to accomplish anything worth while. Not to mention that nothing really gets done at home if we are never there. I have to get back to having a life other than work.

So it was definitely a relief not to be there today, especially after the last two frustrating days.

When I got back, THE PROJECT was still there. Although all the text had been printed, so I could move on to the next part. We stayed until about eight. We're feeling more like we re are now back in control and we'll finish in a couple days.

I'm exhausted now and my back and knees are killing me, so this is all the entry I can manage for tonight.
