Sorry
to leave you hanging. I thought that I should let you know that I
still really do hope to write entries more regularly. I just got sidetracked
with life, work, the flu and the sudden need to buy a car when our
old faithful little 1986 HondaCivic wagon chugged it's last chug.
Fortunately,
it had the thoughtfulness and decency to die right out in front of
our house. Unfortunately, it was at the very exact moment when I was
on my way to the store to buy a brand new couch. At least I didn't
have to feel that I had just blown a wad of cash which I would be
needing toadd to the car fund.
Our old
car served us well. We'd gotten it used from one of the potters in
the studio next to ours. It had been well cared for and garaged and
we managed to put almost 100K miles on it in addition to the 91K already
on the odometer when we purchased it. We did many art fairs with our
display and jewelry crammed into the back. We repaired it until our
mechanic began to question our sanity. Owning that car after having
owned mostly American cars, including one brand new Ford Aerostar,
convinced me that there is a huge difference in quality in the Japanese
cars. They are much better, and if I actually had the choice, I think
I would never own an American made car again. So it was with much
regret that we left her by the curb, knowing that this good bye would
be permanent.
We hopped
a bus and headed for the studio to figure out just what we could do
and how and when. One thing I do love about living in the city is
that there is public transportation available just about everywhere.
But in the bitter cold that wasn't really much of a consolation. So
we called my daughter wand she generously loaned us her car for a
while, since she had access to another vehicle.
Two days
after the car died I got really sick with the flu, complete with chills
and fever and complete inability to eat anything significant. That
had it's good side, the bonus being dropping eight pounds in a week
with no real effort, five of which I've managed to keep off. That
bonus loss, along with having to accommodate to some of Spouse's health
and diet issues, info on my own recent very high cholesterol results
and my increasing blood pressure, have motivated me/us to carry on
with some more healthy eating plans.
It's
been a busy month and I've just not had time nor have I been sufficiently
motivated to write here. Then I realized on my birthday, March 8,
that it was around this time last year when I finally decided to plan
my web site. Even though I don't write every day, I do enjoy it when
I have the time, and I really want to make it past the year mark.
Besides, what good is it having a place on the web if I'm not even
going to update regularly?
