For
a while I thought I would just abandon the journal format and try to
use Blogger, but that didn't work for me for the journal aspect, so
I'm going to try this format again. This palindromic date seemed like
a good one on which to begin again.
Way back
in November, Mr. Crazy Old Lady had a heart attack-ish thing. It was
very scary for that moment in time, but after an angiogram and subsequent
angioplasty he seems to have recovered fine, and now we are working
on changing our lifestyle and eating right...(yeah)...and exercising...(yeah,
soon.) Well, we are at least making some serious effort on the eating
part.
Christmas
came and went, and was quite enjoyable this year. One of the best we've
had, actually. Those kids who live in town came over with their SO's
or families, and we ate big and opened presents and played silly card
games, and sillier computer games, and generally had a good family time.
We really missed the son and new daughter-in-law who live in Seattle.
The
new year finds us back in the groove expanding the book business, and
dropping more and more of the jewelry business; recommitting to freelance
coordinating for the dealer organization, and organizing their book
event again, and looking to find new ways to make a living.
I'm
most happy continuing to learn more about the bookbinding and conservation
business. I love it, and find that the conservation aspect is really
challenging, and interesting to do. I've practiced on several books
and archivally repaired our 153 year old family Bible and a couple of
other family documents which I inherited as I was the one most interested
in family history. They were vastly improved, and looking at all the
names sparked my interest in seeking more links in the tree. So far
no success pre 1795, but I've just begun. All I need is another reason
to surf the net. No matter what, I will at least organize the information
and add in the rest of the family details. Maybe it will last another
150 years or so.
In
addition to the conservation, I still want to do some "book art
/ art books."
This
year we'll have yet another wedding in July. My daughter and her fiancé
are doing most of their own planning, but I'll be making the veil, designing
and making the invitations and the guest book, and planning for the
flowers and, in general, being in charge of the aesthetics. So that
should keep me very busy.
